A petition opposing the potential closure of a health walk-in center has about 6,000 signatures.
The Rouen Road walk-in center in Norwich is up for consideration by the NHS Norfolk and Waveney Integrated Care Board (ICB).
The petition against closure's closure was organized by Tom Bristow, who claimed that the center had "incredible support.".
The care board reported receiving 1,800 responses as it conducted consultations on its proposals.
The facility's current GP contracts expire in the spring of 2024.
The day after I started it [the petition], I was talking to a friend about it, and he said, "Oh yeah, the walk-in center saved my wife's life and child's life." Mr. Bristow, editor of The Norwich Seeker, said: Everybody can tell a tale about it. ".
Sadie Parker, the primary care director for the ICB, reported that the organization's consultation, which is still open until March 26th, has received a "phenomenal response.".
I've never seen a response to a consultation like this, said Ms. Parker, who also expressed her satisfaction with the level of participation.
Walk-in centers were developed as part of NHS policy 13 years ago, according to Ms. Parker, and "obviously things have changed a lot since then.".
She claimed that since the contract was coming to an end, the ICB wanted to review the provision.
She said, "We have really carefully reviewed what activity is being undertaken at the walk-in center," in response to worries about the potential effects of closure on the emergency department at Norfolk and Norwich Hospital.

The center, according to a Healthwatch Norfolk report, "offers excellent value for money but is operating at a loss.".
Losses totaled £47,384.48 (to treat 2,071 additional patients) and an additional £32,809.92 (not paid for health center patients) in the most recent financial quarter.
