Twenty people were killed and 68 others were injured when a tour bus and an armored cash-in-transit van collided head-on in South Africa.
The bus fell into the river below after the vehicles collided on a highway bridge.
The paramedic company ER24 reported that "16 down by the river" and "three people were found deceased by the roadside.".
It continued, "The majority of the fatalities down by the river had been trapped under the bus.
A patient later passed away in a hospital.
According to the AFP news agency, police divers were also looking in the river that borders the highway "for people who might have been swept away.".
Investigations are being conducted to determine what caused the accident that occurred on Monday night on the N1 in Makhado, Limpopo province.
The government has declared a national disaster as a result of the heavy rains and flooding that have been affecting this region and others in South Africa.
The crash victims' identities have not yet been made public.
