The litter of sled dogs that a Nottingham Forest supporter who now resides in Swedish Lapland gave the name of his beloved Premier League team.
Ben Wagstaff, a native of the Nottinghamshire town of Hucknall, relocated to northern Sweden to pursue his dream of breeding and racing sled dogs.
After the litter arrived on the same day Forest were promoted, he claimed he was motivated to give it a name.
He now has huskies named after manager Steve Cooper and Brennan Johnson.
Mr. Wagstaff said, "It was a significant change in my life.
"In Nottingham, I always kept a couple of huskies. I was given the opportunity to travel to Northern Sweden to work as a handler for a man who had 100 huskies, and when I arrived, I immediately fell in love.
It was exactly what I wanted to do, I knew.
"I decided to make the change to come here and start a husky farm for myself when I finally had the money and the guts to do so.
"We race, have fun, and run tourists. It's absolutely incredible. ".
Now, Mr. Wagstaff and his Dutch partner Naomi Bouwmeester run 41 dogs across snow-covered mountains and forest trails over a span of several days, covering distances of up to 217 miles (350 km).
On the same night that Nottingham Forest was promoted to the Premier League, "two of our best dogs, Morris and Isa, had a fantastic litter," he said.
Naturally, since I am from Nottingham and have waited 23 years for this, I named the puppies after the team.
"Six puppies were present. My favorite is Brennan Johnson, including the dog and the player. I just hope he can match the genuine Brennan Johnson in talent. ".
Brennan Johnson, who is only eight months old, weighs five stone (32 kilos).
According to Mr. Wagstaff, the kennel's loudest canine is named after Forest manager Steve Cooper.
He said, "I picture him as a leader telling the others what to do.
He continued by expressing the hope that the actual Steve Cooper would come meet his namesake.
The dogs are too young to compete in races right now, but Mr. Wagstaff expressed optimism that they would one day meet Champions League standards.
