An MP who just got back from Ukraine has asked NATO to send military jets to support that nation in its conflict with Russia.
The North Norfolk Conservative MP, Duncan Baker, was speaking after helping local volunteers deliver aid.
An $18,000 fundraising effort resulted in the delivery to Lyiv of dozens of generators, blankets, and dog food.
Mr. Baker stated, "I believe we ought to be doing everything we can to support the Ukrainian people.

The supplies were delivered to the frontlines by a local charity in Ukraine.
The only way to achieve a military breakthrough, according to Mr. Baker, is for NATO to send jets to provide the best possible air cover.
"I don't know how you can say we'll do everything we can to train pilots and then decide against providing assistance by sending military jets.
We simply seem to be moving in that direction, in my opinion. ".
The British government recently agreed to train pilots and provide tanks to the Ukrainian army, but it stopped short of providing jets.
According to NATO, doing so might cause the crisis to worsen.

The mission's leader, North Walsham businessman Rob Scammell, stated: "There is a huge demand for generators to support individuals, medical facilities, schools, hospitals, and orphanages because Putin has switched his attacks to infrastructure. ".
He expressed gratitude to the more than £18,000 in donations made in Norfolk, where some residents had also donated generators that they already had stored in their sheds.
Nearly a year into the conflict, he said, "everyone told us they were determined not to give in," but the mood was "very bleak" among many.
In Norfolk, teacher Anna Kolomiichuk from Ukraine and her six-year-old son have been staying with Mr. Baker's family.
Despite the fact that the war had grown tiresome for Ukrainians, Ms. Kolomiichuk said her nation was "more united than ever" and "everyone believes we will win.".
Although it is exhausting, she argued that if you know what you're fighting for, you just do it and they will continue to do so for however long it takes.
