With the acquisition of winger Dango Ouattara from French club Lorient for about £20 million, Bournemouth has made their first signing of the January transfer window.
In 18 Ligue 1 appearances this season, the 20-year-old has six goals and six assists.
With 11 international appearances for Burkina Faso, Ouattara has scored five goals. His contract is for five and a half years.
Bill Foley, the new American owner of Bournemouth, recently acquired a small stake in Lorient.
In an effort to move the team out of the Premier League relegation zone, Foley has promised to bolster manager Gary O'Neil's team.
Neill Blake, chief executive of Cherries, said, "We are happy to secure the services of Dango, a promising and sought-after player with a great deal of potential.
"We have been keeping an eye on him for a while, and he fits the mold of the young, ambitious, hungry, and hard-working player this club is looking to sign.
